Papa Provençal Vin de France Cuvee V by James Rose 2015

Grenache 70%, Cinsault 30%
Organic Status:
Lutte raisonnée
13.29% (Number on label may differ)
This is our own exclusive blend, made by us, just 200 cases made. For you! It was a challenge to make a rosé with both freshness and fruit in 2015 due to the summer warmth. Much of what we tasted was too sweet, too heavy. So we put in a bit more Cinsault than Grenache for better balance. From old vines on limestone at 400m, by direct press in concrete tank. Silky. Refreshing, juicy. Outstanding value for a limited version artisan wine.
Tasting Notes:
This has rich notes of fresh and stewed strawberry and red cherry, herbes de Provence, and some licorice. The palate is soft, smooth and gentle, transporting you to sound of cicadas and a Provençal terrace in summer... Enjoy!
Vintage Notes:
After two challenging years (that produced some stunning wines) 2015 was "back to business"! The Spring was mild and weather steady, allowing for an even flowering. Summer was typically hot and dry and the challenge therefore was to keep freshness in the wines. The resulting wines are sunny! Rich fruit, with low acidity and relatively high alcohol degrees that really don't matter if all else is in balance.
From vineyards in the Ventoux east of the Caromb-Mazan sector, on stony, limestone-clay soils, at around 400m altitude, facing south and south-east. The vines are 40 years old. Grapes are harvested in mid-September.
Made by 70% direct press and 30% saignee. The direct press was pressed gently into tank to cold settle and then fermented in concrete tank at a relatively low 15C to keep freshness and not over extract before being blended with the saignee. The wine is matured 6 months in stainless steel tank. The wine is bottled very lightly filtered.
