We’re holding a monthly office tasting with new juices from Mendall, Escoda and Jordi Llorens! We’re happy to show them to you at our office tasting next week.

Escoda Conca de Barbera Mas del Gaio 2014
This is a brilliant new white addition to Escoda's range. It's named after the recently acquired parcel it comes from, which lies in front of the cellar framing the magnificent view towards Montblanc. It was a wild, previously abandoned field of massive, gnarled old vines as well as olive, almond and fruit trees and herb bushes and it has now revealed its magic with this wine! Made, of course, naturally, without added sulfites, in Anfora, it's pure, rich, complex, precise and still refreshes. Only 1,000 bottles were made and only 120 imported so don't wait to get some! Only 12.7% Alcohol and < 7 mg/L SO2 Tot.
Jordi Llorens Vi de Taula Natural Blan 5.7 2014
Jordi Llorens is part of the same group of raucous and exuberant Spanish Catalan Natural Wine producers as Escoda and Mendall and he's equally aggressive in his farming biodynamically and his non-use of sulfites. He's based close to Escoda in the Conca de Barbera. Jordi's relatively quiet and reserved, as are his wines, at least to start...! This wine is a blend of Macabeu and Parellada and is always a trip; it's likely to change in colour, sometimes turning orange, yet always retains a fantastic freshness, fruit, finesse and complexity. The name of the wine comes from the rough proportion of the blend and Jordi's street number in his tiny village. The wine is made very simply, and has an astonishing mere 10% alcohol despite great flavour! Brilliant!
Jordi Llorens Vi de Taula Blan d'Anzera 2014
This is a brilliant and beautiful new white Cuvée from Jordi Llorens, the quiet one of the group of exuberant Spanish Catalan Natural wine producers. It's more silky, more rounded and possesses richer fruit than the Blan 5.7, yet it's also cut of the same cloth, with vibrant energy, exciting complexity and freshness and finesse. It's one of the finest Natural wines we've tasted and one most likely to appeal to those sceptical of the genre. The production is pitifully limited: 900 bottles! Hurry to get some of this amazing juice before it goes! It's also just 10.31% alcohol, and < 7 mg/L SO2 Tot.
Mendall Vi de Taula Abeurador 01 2014
A white wine to make you weep with pleasure! If only all Natural Wine could be this clear and satisfying, if only all Wine could be this Natural! Abeurador is the name of the west-facing vineyard, on limestone soils at 450 metres which gives great mineral lemon freshness to the rich fruit. It's of course made and bottled without sulfites and offers extraordinary complexity as well as persistence - leave it open for a week. Or two. And enjoy! 12.7% Alcohol. < 4 mg/L SO2 Tot.
