Clos Perdus IGP Côtes Catalanes L'Année Blanc 2014
Les Clos Perdus L'Année red and white are more about time than place. Reflections of the vintage more than particular soils since this Domaine often picks up different old parcels to work each year and will assemble the best blend. This year comes from vines deep into the Roussillon around Montner and Maury, mostly on schist, some on clay. The 60 year old, 15hl/ha yielding Macabeu and Grenache Gris see some skin contact and provide great energy, finesse and textural pleasure, as well as crisp and mineral complexity. This is one of the leading biodynamic Domaines in the Languedoc Roussillon making wines with fantastic lightness of touch and subtlety.
Gangloff Côte-Rôtie La Sereine Noire 2012
Côte-Rôtie doesn't get any better than this. Gangloff's been making wine for over 25 years now and is a Master! This is his stylish, old vine Cuvée, from schist soils. Organic, with minimal sulfites. Mainly whole bunch and aged two years in new and old 300L oak.
Terrebrune Bandol Rosé 2014
“2012 Coup de Coeur. The most subtle rosé in Provence”, says Revue de Vins de France and the wine has many Michelin star listings in France, too. There is Provence rosé, then there is Bandol rosé, and then there is Terrebrune, with its unique style being delicate yet richly flavoured with very fine structure! Where many rosé are deliberately simple and not quite red or white, this is perhaps both red and white! It comes from a unique terroir in Bandol based on a limestone subsoil with "terre brune" topsoil, which has always been farmed organically since planting in 1962. The wine is made very simply and sees no oak. The wine comes in at just 12.85% alcohol, too!
